Ambassador of Entanglement: So how did Hannis and Pannis meet?
Hannis: Were from different countries and walks of life. However running into each others not unfathomable. We go to the same school with studios on the 12th floor. Share the same broken hearts.
Pannis: Around Christmas, I buried myself with cardboard in my studio, I didnt go home or shower for days, just working and coping. There were two other people who didnt go home for Christmas Ryan and Young, and we played childish games to take our minds off the holiday. One day we played football with a giant water bottle, the next day we drew obscene doodles on the wall, and the day after that we fashioned an obstacle course out of cushions, tables and garbage cans. It was the best days of the whole year.
Hannis: Playing the few songs we know on newly acquired instruments begins the bond. Which leads to Hannis Pannis. Our collaboration helps us handle the day to day along with being out there.
Ambassador of Entanglement: Whats your relationship with the Department (Store)?
Pannis: Inhabiting the cases of the Department (Store) is similar to the process of Hannis Pannis. Most of the work is done on our own, over the phone and through email. Communicating with one another through glass panes is like the distance between our residences.
Hannis: We get to be in the public while maintaining the comfortable level of playing with no audience. Play on our backs inside two of the fifty odd display cases from the abandoned department store. My bedding beneath us. Position our guitars to fit. Legs tap the air to keep in time. Wails echo the old mens floor. We cant hear each other. Communicate with Sharpies and paper. Leave it all behind. Im still sheetless and pillowless.
Karolina: again?!?!
Hannis: Sweat mess. Swamp display case. Expend so much energy in one hour. Didnt even play all the songs. Didnt have to. Never at a loss for words, chords. Signs to Pannis. Hes flawless. Musicianship ascends rapidly. Its not been long and we have enough for another album. Only months since we were forgetting words and only playing golden chords.
Jay Son: After I left I couldnt get Boyz II Men out of my head.
Hannis: Hannis Pannis on Display.
Pannis: For the last time.
Hannis: Case coordinates shift. Move to the back.
Pannis: Where the Ambassador of Entanglement wants the crowd drawn.
Hannis: Security baffles over our safety. Sends two to watch us for our performance. At least well have a guaranteed audience.
Pannis: They make sure we dont suffocate.
Hannis: Have to keep the cases open. Scratch plans of fogging glass with overplaying vocals and harmonica.
Pannis: Social Psychopath will be shot tonight. We recruit a choir to join in at the end. Hear them, but none are courageous enough to stand in front of the camera.
Hannis: We burn for one hour.
Pannis: I call it. Sore voice from too much falsetto.
Hannis: Barely grip chords. Voice fights cold. Sound more like Bruce tonight. Manage to slip out one more, Dancing Stars. Put all into cannot do it, cause I told you I wouldnt. Janet told me if you tell someone this you wont do it.
Pannis: We know the store manager.
Ambassador of Entanglement: What do you plan to do about the collision?
Pannis: Switch bedding from case #102-6-014 to case #103-6-014.
